Zwick’s testing system for pharmaceutical and medical packaging consists of a materials testing machine and robotic handling system, which is said to ensure economical analysis of products.
The UK-based firm has developed a robotic testing procedure for automated testing applications ranging from childproof bottles to auto-injectors and insulin pens; tests on these include measurement of the release force. As well as increasing specimen throughput and reducing per-specimen costs, automation is claimed to reduce operator influence.
It is designed for combined compression and torsion tests and is based around a ZwickiLine Z5.0TN table-top testing machine with an additional torsion drive. Specimen feed is by means of the roboTest handling system plus autoEdition2 automation software.
