Weener Plastics rolls with it in Brazil

Dutch converter Weener Plastics (WP) has acquired the shares and operations of Brazil’s Orange Products Plasticos Ltda (OPB), which manufactures Roll-on Balls for deodorants and counts several large A-brands and local brands as customers.

The company has purchased the business, located in Santo Amaro da Imperatriz, from current shareholders Orange Products (OPI) and C-Pack for an undisclosed amount.

WP says it is committed to building on the knowledge and experience of the local team in Brazil. The Dutch company designs, develops and manufactures added-value caps and closures, Roll-on Balls and packaging, and jars and bottles for the personal care, food beverage and home care markets.

Paul Sachdev, chief executive of Orange Products, said: “Although OPB enjoyed our customers’ support and confidence since 2011, the operation was never able to expand beyond the manufacture of plastic roll-on balls. The acquisition by WP will allow OPB to grow its product line and customer base into new markets.”

WP employs more than 3,000 people and has 24 facilities in 16 countries. In October 2015 the company acquired the shares of another Brazilian firm, Weener Globalpack Industry Plastica, which had previously been a joint venture with Globalpack. It renamed the business Weener Industria Plastica Ltda.
