Chemical firm Repsol is to start construction of a manufacturing unit for metallocene linear polyethylene at its Tarragona, Spain petrochemical complex in June, as part of a strategy to focus on differentiated products that will allow the company to compete against HDPE imports from regions with access to cheaper raw materials.
Spanish energy company Repsol has announced a 20 per cent increase in its polyolefin sales in Europe compared to the same period in 2014. The firm puts the results down to a focus on premium and differentiated products, geographical diversification outside Iberia and an increase in contact with distributors.
The managing director of polyethylene manufacturer and packaging supplier, Duo UK, has welcomed the doubling of lending for export finance to £3 billion (US$4.9bn) and reduction of interest rates by one third, announced by Chancellor George Osborne, in the UK's 2014 Budget today.
