Sensor-based sorting specialist, TOMRA Sorting, has linked up with Monoworld Recycling for a £9 million ($11.6m) plastics recycling facility in Rushden, UK. It is the UK's first mixed plastics to extrusion HDPE and PP recycling plant and complements Monoworld's film and metal sorting plant in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire.

Austria's Erema and Italian PET packaging solutions provider Sipa have collaborated to launch the XTREME RENEW recycling system, which involves the direct processing of PET flakes for food contact compliant inline preforms in a single processing step. This enables the direct processing of washed PET flakes to produce preforms.
