In October 2018, there was generally little movement with standard recyclate prices in Western Europe. Only rPET prices underwent a marked upward shift. The opaque grades of rLDPE recorded significant declines due to bargain packages on large volumes.

The season for the construction and beverage sectors boosted demand for recyclates. Germany’s national day on 3 October had a dampening effect because many extended the holiday into a long weekend.

Prices are expected to have remained largely stable in November. However, the seasonal boost should diminish and, in consideration of upcoming year-end results, many processors are paying more attention to their inventory levels.
