Dairy firm Saputo is building a $240 million processing facility in Port-Coquitlam in order to increase services across Western Canada.

Expected for completion by 2021, the plant forms part of a strategy from the firm’s dairy division to improve operational efficiencies.

Saputo also recently offloaded a production facility in British Columbia for approximately $209m before entering into a rental agreement for it until the construction of the Port-Coquitlam plant is complete.

It also recently acquired F&A Dairy Products for $85m as well as cheese and yoghurt maker Shepherd Gourmet for $77.7m on top of a deal for Australia-based Murray Goulburn.
