Pretium makes room for PET bottle production

US-based containers and closures maker Pretium Packaging is to expand its facility in Carrollton, Texas to support growing demand for PET bottles.

An additional 52,000 sq ft will be added to the Carrollton plant, which previously only produced HDPE containers, to facilitate PET bottle production.

Said senior vice president for sales and marketing, Mark Howell: “By shifting our production, we will be able to shorten delivery times and reduce our transportation carbon footprint. With brand owners wanting to shorten the supply chain timeline, this is one way we can help them meet their objectives.”

Alongside the expansion in Texas, Pretium’s plant in Aurora, Illinois will also undergo a 54,000 sq ft expansion to provide additional manufacturing and warehousing space. Howell believes that geographically the location serves well for the growth of filling operations.

As part of the growth project in the Carrollton plant, the company will be phasing out its Walterboro, South Carolina facility in order to make way for PET bottle production.
