US fruit and vegetable producer McCall Farms has become the first company to use the Sonoco Products TruVue plastics can.

The clear, plastics retort can is being used for the company’s Glory Farms Slow Cooked Vegetables, with seven varieties of the product now on sale in Harris Teeter and Ingles Markets stores in South-Eastern US states.

The five-layer PP and ethylene vinyl alcohol substrate also includes a steel lid as well as a bottom closure. Sonoco claims that, due to its patented 3- piece design, construction and sealing process, the can is able to withstand the rigours of commercial continuous rotary retort environments.
