Klöckner Pentaplast has expanded its Pentafood film line to include ClikPET, a newly-designed PET-based technology for yoghurt packaging that can be used on FFS lines, seals, labels and trays.
The packaging technology is claimed to extend the shelf life of yoghurt products by up to ten days, offering more flexibility to retailers, with its material properties reducing cup breakage rates to what the Dutch-business claims are significantly lower levels.
Rainer Schlicht, innovation director of food and consumer packaging, said: “Competition in the dairy industry is fierce. That’s why customer orientation is key; we have to walk in our customer’s shoes, anticipating their future needs for dairy products. ClikPET’s technology embodies full polystyrene functionality, complemented by excellent gas and water vapour barrier properties and the ability to bend and click.
“Due to the base of PET technology, ClikPET products offer safe and sustainable solutions in the marketplace while also reducing complexity, risk and price volatility in the supply chain.”
