New closure for Kettle Foods

Kettle Foods has added a resealable closure for its Kettle Chips packs in a move designed to maintain product freshness and support portion control. The UK snack brand is now using Re:Close Tape from Essentra Tapes on its Lightly Salted Kettle Chips packs.

The 30mm wide tape has been applied to Kettle Foods’s existing form fill and seal packaging lines with Essentra’s applicators. The tape features a finger lift area that runs along both sides of its length, making it easy to lift away from the pack. Once opened, the pack can be resealed.

In addition, the eight-colour printed tape enables Kettle Foods to market the products in its Kettle & More range. “The ability to add on-pack promotions simply and cost-effectively, without the need to change the existing packaging artwork, is a real advantage to Re:Close Tape,” explained Ian Beresford, head of marketing and development at Essentra Tapes.

Meanwhile, change of another sort may well be on the cards for Kettle Foods. According to reports, the company may well be put up for sale by its owner Campbell Soup Company after a series of disappointing financial results.
