Nestlé is to explore strategic options for its US confectionery business, including a potential sale.

The Swiss food and drink company’s review will cover the US market, which had sales of CHF 26.7 billion ($27.4bn) last year and is Nestlé’s largest market. It is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

In a statement the business said that it remains fully committed to growing its confectionery activities around the world, with sales in that area amounting to CHF 8.8bn ($9bn) in 2016.
