Multivac has broken ground on the construction of a building complex in Wolfertschwenden, Germany, for its new Slicing Solutions business unit.
The floor space of more than 17,000 sq m will create 180 office workstations as well as conference and function rooms. The investment amounts to around €35 million ($40.6m), with completion planned for 2020.
As part of an official ceremony, the directors of the company, chief executive Hans-Joachim Boekstegers, chief technical officer Guido Spix and finance chief Christian Traumann were in attendance for the event.
Boekstegers said: “The new building complex is designed as an application centre for our Slicing Solutions business unit, which is now seeing very encouraging development in our new business sector. In future automated packaging lines will be commissioned here as well.
“We have successively expanded our product range in recent years to include process equipment upstream and downstream of the packaging procedure. By founding the Slicer unit, we have taken an important strategic step in the direction of ‘Better Processing’.”
