Mondelēz International has opened its first location in Bangladesh, in a move that will allow the brand owner to import its product portfolio into the Asian country.
Although it began importing the Tang powered beverage to the country in 1995, the company will now have a base in the capital Dhaka, with the business saying this will give it greater access to the country’s 160 million consumers.
Former senior brand manager of Tang in India, Kallappa Pattanashetti, has been appointed to lead the operations in the country. She said: “With our existing experience in Bangladesh, we see tremendous opportunity to bring in our much-loved products to this region and continue to grow here. We have inaugurated our corporate office in Dhaka, rolled out billing systems and are currently in the process of establishing a new warehouse.
“Over the next two years, our focus will be to invest in building our route-to-market and growing market share for our much-loved brands.”
