Specialty chemicals supplier Clariant has developed what it calls an enhanced line of desiccant bags for its Healthcare Packaging business unit.

The Sorb-It Pharma bags, made with silica-gel, are used to act as drying agents and are available in a number of standard sizes ranging from 50g to 400g. Designed for the protection of bulk drugs that have active pharmaceutical ingredients during transport and storage, they also comply with US Pharmaceopia testing requirements and are being produced in new ISO 15378 GMP certified facilities.

Said Mark Florez, product manager for Healthcare Packaging: “ISO 15378 is globally recognised by the pharmaceutical industry, and it is important that we offer our full range of products accordingly.”

He also explained how the line is a result of recent certification at the company’s Belen, New Mexico plant, with a capability also to produce the bags in Dongguan, China and Romorantin, France.
