Anheuser-Busch, Nestlé and Pepsico have been placed as the top three food and drink companies in the world by Forbes in its Global 2000 list.
The annual rankings put together the world’s most powerful public companies as measured by a composite score of revenue, profit, assets and market value.
Anheuser-Busch jumped 85 spots to number 41 thanks to its $56 billion in revenue and $7.9bn in profit recorded in the twelve months ending May 11. The improvement was good enough to put the beer giant at the top of the food and beverage sector, taking over from Nestlé, which dropped 14 places to number 48 with revenue of $91bn and a profit of $7.3bn – a drop of $1.3bn compared to 2017.
Placed at 102 overall was Pepsico with a revenue of $64bn and $4.9 billion in profit, whilst Coca-Cola recorded one of the biggest drops to number 209 from last year’s position of 86. Its $33bn in sales and $1.4bn in profit placed it in 7th place in the food and drink sector.
